Properly fertilizing your plants will give you greener leaves, heavier and more colorful blooms, and stronger root systems.
Evergreens:
- Definition: Plants that retain their leaves or needles in the winter
- Fertilize twice a year using a 5-10-5 fertilizer, once in the spring and once in the fall.
Deciduous Plants:
- Definition: Plants that lose their leaves in the fall
- Fertilize once a year in the spring or fall using a 10-10-10 fertilizer.
Flowering Plants and Perennials:
- Use a 10-30-10 fertilizer to promote bigger and better blooms.
Lawns:
- Fertilizing your lawn should first be done in early spring with a high nitrogen fertilizer. Please consult with a licensed chemical company regarding weed care, grub or pest control, fertilizer application and other lawn programs.
*It is very important to wait at least six months after a newly seeded or sodded lawn is installed to apply a weed application.
